Kalevala Koru has its roots in ancient history. It was worn by Finnish tribes living in Russia. At first, many decorative themes were borrowed from the eastern Baltics, but the designs quickly took on a Finnish stamp. Ornamental motifs were usually geometric; they were either stamped, cast or in some cases, engraved.
