 NORDISK DESIGN

From our private label, NORDISK DESIGN STUDIO, we offer different collections of mid-century inspired, minimalistic objects, designed by Dutch-Norwegian designer, Elise Hernes (1956).  Elise Hernes was educated at the Rotterdam Dressmaker Academy (1988-1990).

Elise specialises in working with silk and linen in different compositions and wall collages. Each piece of modernist art is handmade and unique. The collage wall compositions, consist of eco-friendly, natural, hand woven, hand dyed, premium quality materials, such as linen and silk, stretched over an artists' frame or a wooden panel, placed in a float frame, lined and signed. The so-called Vevers (weavers in English) are handwoven pendants and/or table lamps and individual lamp shades.

Prices may vary, depending on frame size and materials.

What is driving Elise?

'My love of nature in general - and of Norwegian nature in particular, is translated into my design. I even would go as far as stating that my Norwegian heritage is the backbone of my creativity. Why? Read more at https://www.bynordicmoods.com/welcome

Recently I started working on my latest project on behalf of @nordicmoods:
woven lamps consisting of natural fibres and yarns on a metal frame, in colour schemes that reflect Scandinavian nature.

The Weaver (Vever in Norwegian) lamps are handmade by using sustainable materials, such as cotton, jute, raffia and/or woolblends, woven upon a metal frame.
Some of the lamps are suitable either as a pendant or a tablelamp, depending on the cord/fixture of your choice.'
